Sara Putnam, MD, Elected to AOA Honor Society

Washington University orthopedic resident Sara Putnam, MD, was recently elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society. Founded in 1902, the AOA is a professional medical organization that recognizes and advocates for excellence in scholarship and the highest ideals in the field of medicine.

Dr. Putnam was elected as a house officer, and one of only four residents in the Washington University and Barnes-Jewish residency community selected for this honor.  Election to Alpha Omega Alpha is an honor signifying a lasting commitment to scholarship, leadership, professionalism, and service. A lifelong honor, membership in the society confers recognition for a physician's dedication to the profession and art of healing.

Residency director Sandra Klein, MD, says, "This achievement is well-deserved, as Sara is an outstanding resident and surgeon, and serves as a great representative of our department."

Dr. Putnam completed her medical degree at Washington University, and is currently a chief resident in the Orthopaedic Surgery residency program.
