The Difference IsParticipants in the Washington University Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Training Program benefit from:

The CORE Curriculum is a faculty-driven educational course of study, designed for a new generation of orthopaedic surgeons and features: a 2-yr cycle of subspecialty lectures highlighting the basics of orthopaedics and dedicated supplemental reading lists for all subspecialties.

Didactics are complemented with case-based, interactive learning experiences that include weekly educational lectures, grand rounds and interactive conferences, subspecialty conferences, monthly journal clubs, psychomotor skills and cadaveric anatomy sessions.

A full-time faculty of attending physicians and researchers representing all ten subspecialties of orthopaedics is committed to and actively involved in resident education.

Videoconferencing of all educational conferences allows the department to simultaneously broadcast weekly conferences and lectures to both the Chesterfield outpatient center and the Washington University Medical Center.

Research opportunities included dedicated research rotations, faculty mentorship and protected research time during the 2nd and 3rd years of training.

The international experience offers residents the opportunity to learn the practice of global medicine during their senior year of training.

Through professional sports team affiliations, our sports medicine specialists provide care to professional and collegiate athletes as well as athletes of all ages and abilities.
